SAMS in Greece has been providing health care and specialized services of Pediatrics and Gynecology. SAMS focuses on vulnerable groups of refugees, immigrants, low-income Greeks and Communities (LGBTQ+, Roma, homeless people, etc.). SAMS is present in the refugee camps of Malakasa, Malakasa RIC, and Ritsona.
SAMS also works in the following NGO clinics in the center of Athens, Seeds of Humanity, Global Brigades, Praksis and Victoria Community Center. Other services include medication prescription, referrals to hospitals etc.
For children, SAMS Pediatric Team conducts medical visits, provides diagnosis / treatment of pediatric diseases, including chronic diseases and implementation of common childhood vaccines, such as measles, diphtheria, mumps, etc. are provided in collaboration with the National Public Health Organization (EODY) and according to the Greek National Child Immunization Program. For potentially high-risk pregnancies or children in need of personal assessment, the medical team collaborates and acts with referrals to Greek Public Hospitals.
For women, medical services provided include family planning, counseling, prenatal screening, birth/complication planning, and management of pregnancy-related medical conditions (preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, etc.).
The MMT has a rotating weekly schedule between camps and clinics.
Camps schedule
Monday: Pediatrics Malakasa 09:30-15:00
Wednesday: Pediatrics and Gynecology Ritsona 09:30-15:00
Thursday: Gynecology biweekly Malakasa and Malakasa RIC (the gynecologist is currently available every second week at each camp)
