The OCCycling project has been designed to address the isolation of residents of the Nea Kavala refugee camp. The absence of suitable public transport means that residents struggle to access supermarkets, pharmacies and the local health centre.
The bikes are available for free rental on a daily basis, 4 hours a day, and during weekends as well; and the organization is processing to offer a longer amount or time for the bikes rental.
OCC also provides workshops to teach the community to fix their own bikes.
The target population are refugees and asylum seekers, but also the local community, who are living in Polykastro and the surrounding area.
